How We Work

Technical processing and the benefits of the used cooking oil recycling project.

Technical Processing

From used oil to biodiesel.

Step 1

Oil Collection

Caritas Switzerland / Lengis Hijau collects the used cooking oil according to the requirements of the hotels and restaurants. Jerrycans with a 20 L capacity are used for the oil collection. Empty and clean jerrycans are provided to hotels and restaurants, while the full jerrycans are picked up.

Step 2

Recycling Process

For the conversion of used cooking oil into biodiesel, the Fuelmatic 3 biodiesel processor from Green Fuels, UK is used. Methanol and catalyst are combined with the pretreated oil in a transesterification process, followed by washing and drying, which produces biodiesel and glycerin.

Step 3

Marketing the Biodiesel

Biodiesel produced within this system will be sold to hotels and restaurants at a price below the industrial diesel fuel price. Separate agreements will be arranged with interested customers.
