The Problem
Why proper collection matters.
In Bali, used cooking oil is often discharged into the environment or sold back into the food chain. A baseline survey of hotels and restaurants found that:
50–60%
of used cooking oil from hotels and restaurants went to waste pickers, who sold it on to small food vendors.
10–20%
was thrown into landfills or water bodies.

One litre of used cooking oil can contaminate about 500 litres of water.

You collect the used oil in clean 20-litre jerrycans, which we provide.

Our team swaps full jerrycans for empty, cleaned ones on a regular schedule.

Recycle
The oil is taken to our plant in Denpasar and processed into biodiesel.

What happens to the oil?
The oil is processed at our plant in Denpasar into biodiesel, and the by-product glycerin can be used to make soap.
